Your new role
As the Assistant Director Finance, you will lead a small team within the Program Support Section, providing strategic financial management services to a major transformation program and broader enterprise functions. You'll work closely with senior executives to deliver high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and advice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-of-month accounting and financial reporting
- Developing and overseeing budgets and cost models
- Preparing briefings, reports, and procedural documentation
- Providing strategic advice and stakeholder engagement
- Supporting the development of financial frameworks and policies
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience managing high volumes of work and leading operational teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information
- Demonstrated experience preparing sensitive and detailed financial documentation
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- High levels of initiative, discretion, and integrity
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
- Experience in management accounting and financial analysis
- Proficiency in enterprise financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- CPA/CA qualifications or working towards full membership
- Experience in Federal Government budget processes
