About the Role
We are currently seeking enthusiastic, motivated and committed Support Workers to join our Services team to support clients in both our Aged Care/Dementia Cottages and our day program for people with disability.
Our “home away from home respite Cottages” operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week for people who are frail of aged or living with Dementia. The Cottage program is a low care model and supports clients to retain their independence and daily living skills. Our locations are in Issacs and Deakin with 2 large 5-bedroom homes with generous tranquil gardens and relaxing outdoor spaces! We offer a wide range of activities that keep both clients and staff active and engaged.
A range of flexible shifts are available including:
Cottages:
7:00AM - 3:15PM
3:00PM - 11:15PM
Active night shift 11:00PM - 7:15AM
Weekday shifts Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Day Program for people with mild to moderate disability (Holt location):
Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 4:30PM
The program operates both out in the community and at our centre in Holt.
Our team is made up of passionate, dedicated individuals who are committed to improving the lives of our clients. The successful applicant will work as part of program team to create a fun and welcoming environment for clients that is aims to achieve client goals. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining quality engaged supports throughout our operating hours and may be required to support participants on a 1:1 basis for goal focus time.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the relevant program supervisor and will be responsible for supporting, participating in and assisting clients in a range of activities including:
Social functions and/or activities either during the day or on daily excursions and care for our guest and or participants
Community participation activities
Skills training which will be provided either individually or through group activities and will include daily life activities, communication and social skills and problem solving
Maintain accurate record keeping and quality assurance processes, including progress notes, care plans, behaviour charts and goal progress
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Certificate III in Disability or Aged Care or equivalent, previous experience in the sector and an understanding of the My Aged Care landscape. People who have completed 1 year of Nursing or Allied Health training will also be considered.
Team Player: Strong commitment to teamwork, good practice and the ability to work with minimal supervision / direction.
Availability: Flexibility with work hours and broad availability (including over night shifts) and able to work at all three locations – Holt, Deakin and Issacs.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to maintain and develop effective relationships with clients, carers, colleagues and other stakeholders
Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality services through adherence to all related regulations, standards and Carers ACT policies and procedures, including WHS, manual handling, infection control and food services
Flexibility to carry out other duties as directed by Team Manager and/or Program Supervisor and relevant to the program
