Yilgarn Iron is a privately owned Australian mining company focused on restarting and responsibly operating a portfolio of historic hematite iron ore assets in Western Australia’s Yilgarn region. The assets, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range, were recently acquired and are set for restart in September 2024.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Site Services Manager to oversee all site services, including warehouse operations, camp management, and site administration.

You will be responsible for the setup, oversight, and efficiency of critical site functions, ensuring smooth operation and compliance across all areas.

This is a key leadership role in a restart environment, and you will play an integral part in the project’s success by ensuring timely and compliant delivery of services and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Management – Key Experience Required

Set up and manage the warehouse operation, ensuring smooth handling of free-issue materials to contractors.

Oversee inventory control, ensuring materials are tracked efficiently to prevent delays in supply.

Work closely with contractors to ensure the timely delivery of materials and prevent stock shortages or interruptions.

Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes and systems to support the operational needs of the site.

Manage a warehouse supervisor and a team of storemen to ensure effective and accurate material management.

Ensure the requisition, purchase order (PO), and general ledger (GL) receipt processes are properly followed and accurately executed, ensuring that materials are efficiently tracked and accounted for.

Camp Management

Manage all aspects of camp maintenance, ensuring facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

Oversee the catering contractor responsible for feeding up to 400 people, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.

Ensure that any non-compliance or maintenance issues in the camp are swiftly dealt with to ensure smooth operations.

Coordinate logistics related to the camp and its operations, ensuring the workforce is adequately supported at all times.

Site Admin

Oversee site administration functions, including flights, accommodation, and general administrative duties.

Coordinate all travel logistics for site personnel, ensuring smooth and efficient operations of flights and transport.

Lead and manage a team of 5 site admin staff, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Requirements:

Extensive experience in managing warehouse operations, inventory control, and free-issue material handling in a mining environment.

Understanding of CAPEX vs OPEX, and ability to provide detailed information on CAPEX projects.

Solid understanding of the requisition / PO / GL receipt process, ensuring proper tracking and execution.

Proficient in ERP systems, ideally Pronto, or similar systems for tracking materials and managing site services.

Strong experience in overseeing camp maintenance and managing outsourced contractors, especially catering services.

Proven ability to manage site administration teams, with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and liaise with head office.

A proactive approach to safety and compliance with industry regulations.

Desirable: ARO certification, though not essential.
