The Construction Branch is responsible for the delivery of the varied built-form housing outcomes across the State, including Metropolitan, Regional and Remote areas.
The scope of what is delivered varies from a one-bedroom ancillary dwelling to multi-residential developments in excess of 20 dwellings.
This role is required to provide specialist advice for projects, inspecting sites and construction works associated with the delivery of projects of medium complexity.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a pool of motivated Senior Project Officer - Inspector of Works to be part of a vibrant team that supports the Housing Delivery and Asset Maintenance Directorate in delivering approximately 1,000 social housing dwellings a year for vulnerable West Australians.
This is an ideal opportunity to be a valued team member who is reliable, supportive and organised and able to:
- Inspect properties under construction across the State and ensures construction is compliant with the building regulations and codes, and Department of Housing and Works’ specifications and briefs.
- Prepare inspection reports and issues certificates authorising payments to contractors.
- Carry out site inspections to negotiate and resolve disputes with builders including assessing and negotiating the value of incomplete work on building contracts.
- Conduct defects inspections on occupied properties and identifies items to be rectified by Builders under defect arrangements.
- Provide specialist advice on construction methods to Project Managers and with their ongoing development and understanding of construction methods.
- Provide input into the development of specifications and design briefs for housing projects.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of construction policies and procedures.
- Proactively monitor, research and report on state, national and international trends in housing construction methods and innovations.
