DFP is seeking an experienced and dedicated Asset Strategist for one our State Government clients.
About the role:
- Provide leadership in developing, monitoring and reporting asset data, benchmarking and performance, supporting informed asset strategy and options.
- Custodian of the Strategic Asset Management Framework (SAMF), ensuring governance, monitoring and performance reporting to executive, Board and Minister.
- Lead strategies for replacing, retaining or disposing of assets, including aged stock (45–60 years old) and managing its unique constraints.
- Maintain a broad, portfolio-wide perspective — looking beyond budget limitations to identify the best long-term outcomes.
- Contribute to asset plans, innovative projects, and robust financial and feasibility models to maximise asset value.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure effective use of capital and develop transparent criteria for prioritising programs and allocating resources.
- Bring strong knowledge of South Australia’s geography and regional context, as 99% of the portfolio is vacant land across the state.
- Act as a panel member contributing to key decisions on the asset pool.
- Promote collaboration within the organisation and with government and non-government partners for improved asset outcomes.
- Support EEO, diversity, ethical conduct and safe work practices, with a genuine commitment to Reconciliation, cultural safety and zero tolerance for violence.
About you:
- Proven ability to take responsibility, justify decisions, act within authority and align actions with organisational policy and values.
- Skilled in using current information systems, adapting to changes and advising on improvements for asset data management.
- Experienced in providing strategic and conceptual advice to senior leaders and Ministers, with strong high-level writing and briefing skills.
- Able to identify strategic goals, set direction and provide influential leadership to deliver outcomes.
- Skilled at managing and evaluating major organisational strategies, initiatives and stakeholder communications.
- Qualified and experienced in strategic asset management, strategic planning, development, finance, economics or related fields.
