About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Locomotive Provisions Assistant looking to join our team in Melbourne, VIC. As a Locomotive Provisions Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with train operations, communicating & providing support to Train Crew working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
If training is required another rate will apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Train Preparation & Departure Readiness: Assist with locomotive and wagon pre-start checks, brake testing, and provisioning tasks (e.g. fuel, water, supplies).

Securing Trains: Ensure rolling stock is correctly braked and secured as per network standards.

Train Crew Assistance: Provide support to Locomotive Drivers including radio communication, signal relay, and movement direction.

Rail Safety Practices: Strict adherence to safeworking rules, corridor access procedures, and network-specific protocols.

Inspections: Support routine inspections of wagons and locomotives to identify visible issues.

Equipment Care: Maintain cleanliness and serviceability of radios, torches, safety gear, and tools.

Requirements – What You Need to Succeed:

Rail CAT 1 Medical Clearance (including musculoskeletal test)

Australian Full Driver’s License (no restrictions)

Relevant Rail TLI Unit Statements of Attainment aligned with the role

Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes)

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills

Highly Regarded (Desirable but Not Essential)

First Aid Certificate

Forklift Ticket
