Salary: $70,000 – 80,000 per year plus super

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals in accordance with recipes and standards. This role is suited to individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality, freshness, and suitability for preparation.

· Prepare, season, and cook food in dining or catering establishments using various methods such as frying, grilling, baking, boiling, and roasting.

· Season food during cooking according to recipes, personal judgment, or customer requirements.

· Portion food, arrange it on plates, and enhance presentation with appropriate gravies, sauces, and garnishes.

· Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements when needed.

· Regulate and monitor temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure optimal cooking conditions.

· Store food in temperature-controlled environments and monitor inventory to ensure adequate stock levels.

· Assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements based on operational needs.

· May train and support kitchen staff and apprentices to ensure quality standards are maintained.

· Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, complying with all health, safety, food handling, and sanitation regulations.

· Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure food preparation aligns with service timelines and quality expectations.

Other requirements are:

1. Work Eligibility: Permitted to work permanently with no restriction on hours (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident) (preferred).

2. Education: Commercial Cookery qualification (at least Certificate IV level or equivalent)

3. Previous experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial kitchen or equivalent (at least as a cook)

4. Language: Conversant in English is a must.

5. Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

6. Good communication and time-management skills.

7. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends.
