Home Care Worker (Aged Care and Disability) - Female Preferred due to Current Client Needs

Casual, Part-time role available for staff who demonstrate strong performance.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide high-quality, person-centered care and support to older clients and clients with disabilities living in their own homes. The Home Care Worker helps clients maintain their independence, dignity, health, and wellbeing in accordance with their care plans and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care
· Assist with showering, bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, continence care and dressing.
· Support safe transfers and mobility, including use of equipment where necessary.
· Monitor and report any changes in physical or emotional wellbeing to the coordinator.
2. Domestic Assistance
· Perform light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, dishwashing, vacuuming, and tidying.
· Assist with meal preparation and light cooking aligned with dietary needs or preferences.
3. Social Support and Companionship
· Provide emotional support and social interaction to reduce isolation and promote mental wellbeing.
· Assist with recreational activities, hobbies, and community engagement.
4. Transport and Errands
· Accompany or transport clients to medical appointments, shopping, social events, or community programs, ensuring safety throughout.
5. Communication and Documentation
· Maintain accurate records of support provided using agreed documentation tools.
· Promptly report incidents, risks, or concerns regarding client wellbeing.
· Communicate respectfully and professional with clients, families, and staff.
6. Care Plan Implementation
· Follow client care plans and directions from Coordinators, adapting support within the scope of practice when client needs change.
· Participate in ongoing training and supervision to ensure care delivery remains safe and effective.
7. Risk, Safety and Compliance
· Adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures, reporting hazards or risks promptly.
· Support infection control practices, including use of PPE.
· Follow policies related to elder abuse prevention, incident reporting, and emergency response.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
· Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or an equivalent qualification (e.g. in Disability, Home and Community Care, Nursing, Health Care Assistance, or Personal Support Work) or currently working towards a recognized qualification in these areas.
· Valid Working with Vulnerable People Card
· Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
· National Police Check (within 12 months) or NDIS Worker Screening Check (provide valid ID number)
· Valid Australia Driver’s Licence and Comprehensive Car Insurance for vehicle use during support work.
· Legal right to work in Australia, including a valid visa if applicable.
Desirable:
· Experience in aged care, disability or community support.
· Knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and duty of care responsibilities.
· Awareness of Clients’ Human Rights, including the right to provide feedback or make complaints, access advocacy services and receive culturally safe and respectful care.
· Strong understanding of person-centred care principles, including the importance of dignity of risk and supporting client choice and independence.

Reporting and Supervision:
· Reports to the Service Coordinator
· Participates in supervision sessions, performance reviews and mandatory training.
Other Notes:
· Must not attend work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
· Must maintain good mental health and wellbeing to carry out the duties effectively.
· Smoking is not permitted while providing care services or in client premises.
