Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Water Operations Attendant to join our skilled team and help deliver safe, reliable water services to over 77,000 residents. If you have a background in plumbing, civil construction, or related fields and are looking to grow your skills in an essential industry, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the Role
As a Water Operations Attendant, you'll work across Council's potable and recycled water reticulation networks, which includes five treatment plants, 19 pump stations, and more than 800 km of water mains. This hands-on role involves both reactive and planned works, with responsibilities including:
- Installation, maintenance and repairs of water and recycled water services
- Maintenance and renewal of water mains, fittings, valves, meters, and other reticulation components
- Responding to system faults and water main breaks, including participation in a rotating after-hours on-call roster
- Organising tools, materials and resources to support emergency and routine works
You'll be supported by an experienced and dedicated team who take pride in delivering high-quality services to our community.
What We're Looking For
We're after a team player who is:
- Enthusiastic, reliable and committed to safety
- Experienced in plumbing, civil construction, or water industry work
- Willing to learn and develop technical knowledge
- Capable of working outdoors in a physical, fast-paced environment
Essential Requirements
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Relevant experience in water operations, plumbing or civil construction
- Availability for after-hours and on-call work
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment type: Permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week with 9-day fortnight)
Salary (exclusive of super): Starting salary of $1,214.70 per week with the opportunity for competency-based progression
Allowances: Adverse Working Level 1 / On-call / Tool of Trade Vehicle
