Role: NDIS Disability Services Client Liaison & OH&S Officer

$80,000 + super + portable long service leave.

Position Purpose:

This position is primarily required to oversee NDIS clients requiring personal care and the staff working with them.

The purpose of the Client Liaison Officer position is to ensure best quality service-delivery, care, and support for clients. Working closely within the client team, you will manage a caseload of participants with a range of different support needs. Your diverse role requires you to collaborate with support workers, allied health and health professionals, support coordinators, participants, and their families. As well as conducting client intakes, you will provide support to staff working with participants to ensure person-centred, recovery-orientated services to participants to help build capacity, develop community networks, strengthen social connections, and achieve health and wellbeing goals.

The OHS component of the role requires the assistance in the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Recovery Options Occupational Health and Safety management processes to ensure the culture of workplace health and safety is of the highest standard.

The successful candidate will also provide assistance in safeguarding NDIS participants against the inappropriate use of a regulated restrictive practice (RRP). The APO supports Recovery Options to meet their obligation with timely reporting of restrictive practices to the NDIS Commission.

Client Liaison

Engage in intake of new clients, complete risk assessments and develop support plans. Liaise with scheduling regarding matching support workers to clients

Monitor service delivery and guide support workers in the provision of support

Assist in the oversight, investigation and the notification of incident reports

Create service agreements, undertake client reviews and update company CRM

Provide feedback to management on areas of improvements and recommend implementation of enhanced processes

Collaborate with clients to identify and implement value added services.

APO – Monthly reporting to the NDIS Commission

Assistance with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

OHS Lead

Implement, monitor, and operate OHS process and checklists.

Advise staff members of correct protocol and service delivery based on OHS legislative obligations in

accordance with current legislation.

Specialist Capabilities

Clinical Support Plan Implementation: Expertise in ensuring the accurate and effective implementation of health and allied health support plans. This involves collaborating closely with participants and their allied health practitioners to ensure access to necessary care and practical application of plans, knowing when and how to seek further advice.

Mealtime Management: Guiding staff in the safe and enjoyable implementation of participant mealtime plans. This includes vigilance for swallowing difficulties or other eating challenges and prompt intervention when issues arise.

Medication Management Oversight: Ensuring staff adherence to medication plans, current guidelines, and the appropriate use of aids and methods for safe medication administration.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Implementation: Supporting staff to work with participants and behaviour support practitioners to effectively implement PBS plans, fostering a better understanding and adaptation of participant behaviours.

Ideal Applicant Qualifications:

Candidates for this role should possess a blend of formal qualifications, specialised training, and practical experience to effectively oversee high-intensity NDIS support clients and staff.

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

Certificate IV in Disability (or equivalent)

Diploma of Community Services (or equivalent)

Registered Nurse (RN) / Enrolled Nurse (EN) qualification

Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)

Understanding of NDIS Framework:

Solid knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, particularly those relating to "High Intensity Daily Personal Activities."

Familiarity with the NDIS Code of Conduct and relevant legislative requirements.

Highly Desirable Attributes/Skills:

Leadership and Team Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, train, and supervise a team of support workers, fostering a positive and skilled work environment within the NDIS sector, specifically managing or coordinating staff providing high-intensity daily personal activities.

Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to liaise effectively with participants, families, allied health professionals, and staff.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Capacity to assess complex situations, identify risks, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

Person-Centred and Trauma-Informed Approach: A deep commitment to participant-centred care, respecting individual choice and control, and understanding the principles of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.

Documentation and Administrative Skills: Proficiency in maintaining accurate records, support plans, and ensuring compliance with NDIS reporting requirements.

Direct experience providing high-intensity personal care is highly desirable, as it provides practical understanding of the challenges and requirements.
