The Role


Are you a seasoned leader with a passion for social justice and community wellbeing? This is your chance to drive transformative change in the Housing & Homelessness sector through values-based leadership and strategic innovation.

Reporting directly to the State Manager, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of housing and homelessness programs such as hostel facilities, community- based initiative and outreach and support services.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage program operations with a focus on outcomes and service delivery
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Drive strategic projects and service expansion initiatives
  • Ensure financial accountability and resource efficiency
  • Embed values-based leadership across all levels of program delivery
  • Mentor and motivate teams to achieve strategic goals and operational targets

You will bring management and strategic experience, passion, innovation, and knowledge to demonstrate effective values-based leadership to motivate and mentor people to meet strategic objective and operational targets aligned to our mission and values.

This is a Permanent, Full-time position (38 hours per week) role and will require the successful candidate to travel to Bundaberg, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Mackay. We will consider candidates residing in any of these areas.

To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management or Social Sciences
  • Proven experience in a senior management role overseeing housing, hostel and homelessness support program.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and overseeing internal auditing activities, with a strong understanding of compliance, quality standards, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Demonstrated capacity and knowledge to work within a legislative environment to include the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Act 2008, Corrective Services Act 2006, Disability Act 2006, Mental Health Act 2000, Human Services Quality Framework and other relevant legislative requirements, sector guidelines and policies
  • Strong financial experience with the ability to develop and monitor budgets, manage multiple cost centres and ensure acquittals are conducted in accordance with agreement requirements
  • High level analytical, conceptual, problem-solving skills with proven experience of effective and profound leadership and management skills
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to work within the philosophy of the Society and in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and missions of the Society.
