
Senior Operational Risk & Governance Specialist - Investments

We are partnering with a leading Australian Industry Superfund in the recruitment of a Senior Operational Risk & Governance Specialist who will partner with the Investment Management (IM) team and conduct various risk management and ongoing governance activities to ensure alignment and adherence to the Investment Governance Framework and broader regulatory requirements.
Specifically this will include:
Investment Governance
- Maintaining and improving the Investment Governance Framework including providing subject matter expertise to build greater risk awareness, culture and maturity. This includes maintaining policies related to IM’s on-going risk management and compliance.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Financial Accountability regime within IM, through role clarity and accountability.
- Review and monitor all IM team practices, business procedures and processes to ensure they are appropriately documented, controlled, compliant with legal & regulatory requirements and aligned with enterprise-wide frameworks, policies, strategy, and appetite.
- Support IM team members on incident management to ensure that root cause is understood, appropriate remediations are undertaken, systemic incidents are addressed and incidents are closed.
Regulatory Response
- Lead regulatory response activity, using investment knowledge and skills to reduce reliance on the broader IM team as much as practicable.
- Establish project management plan to ensure regulatory request requirements & accountabilities are clear to all stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder communication, ensuring issues are tracked, managed and escalated in a structured manner.
- Initiate regulatory request response drafting, assisting with consistency, etc – working with Regulatory Response team.
- Manage post regulatory request activity where uplift opportunities are identified.
Change Management
- Proactively work with the business to provide operational risk support for change initiatives & implementation.
Success in this role requires an understanding of superannuation & front office investment management processes, activities and conduct (preferred) combined with deep experience in risk management & controls, governance and regulatory change within financial services.
You are experienced, driven and outcome oriented risk professional, with excellent communication and presentation skills and a strong client partnering focus. Your ability to engage build strong working relationships with senior business stakeholders will be a major contributor to your success.
