About the Role
This role sits within a small, collaborative team delivering water and climate-focused projects throughout the Indo-Pacific. As the Partnerships & Communications Officer, you'll play a central role in supporting the team’s day-to-day operations, contributing to communications outputs, and ensuring the smooth delivery of events and stakeholder activities.

You’ll report to the Senior Manager – Partnerships & Communications and work closely with staff, contractors, and external partners. The role offers a strong mix of administration, content support, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Administration and Coordination

  • Manage calendars, meetings, travel bookings and internal scheduling
  • Maintain accurate records of communications and partnership activities in Salesforce and ProjectWorx
  • Track deadlines and project milestones, ensuring the team stays on schedule
  • Support budget tracking, invoice processing, and financial reconciliation tasks
  • Act as the main point of contact for the communications and partnerships team, coordinating information across teams
  • Format, proofread, and prepare documents to ensure consistency with style guides and accessibility standards
  • Liaise with IT providers to maintain website functionality and troubleshoot any issues

Communications Support

  • Assist in drafting and publishing content across social media, partner portals, websites and email communications
  • Maintain branding and style consistency, ensuring alignment with DFAT branding where relevant
  • Coordinate approvals and quality assurance processes for communications outputs

Event Support

  • Maintain an up-to-date events calendar and assist with logistics and planning
  • Coordinate the delivery of both in-person and virtual events, including invitations, scheduling, and materials
  • Provide support before, during, and after events to ensure smooth delivery

About You

You’ll bring experience in administration, coordination, and communications support—ideally gained in the not-for-profit, government or international development sectors. You’ll be comfortable using a range of systems, juggling competing priorities, and working across multiple stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience providing high-level administrative or operational support
  • Strong written communication and document preparation skills
  • Excellent time management and the ability to coordinate across multiple workstreams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and confidence using tools such as Salesforce, project management systems, and website CMSs
  • A collaborative approach and strong attention to detail
  • Experience supporting communications, partnerships, or event delivery will be highly regarded

Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
