Role Summary:
The Learning Technologist works with the Learning Design and the broader course development team and is responsible for contributing to the delivery of quality multimedia and interactive assets for courses in the Learning Management System (LMS). The incumbent will have a role in assuring the effective delivery of multimedia for online education projects and activities.
The Learning Technologist will be responsible for incorporating innovative digital practices and techniques into a range of courses.
The successful applicant will have a good understanding of current developments in digital technologies and practices and be able to draw upon this when working with teams to expand possibilities and ensure that courses offer students innovative, high quality digital resources that reflect our status as a major provider of online education. They will have expertise in multiple areas of digital production, and be able to select appropriate solutions to enhance both the student experience and student outcomes, aligning with best practice in an online educational context.
Responsibilities:
Video and Multimedia Educational Development:
- Create high-quality graphics, illustrations, infographics, icons, charts, and other visual assets to support and enhance course content in various formats (motion graphic, animation, video, presentations, interactive modules, etc.).
- Design and develop multimedia resources for use in online and technology enhanced learning courses and courses on the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Use computer programs to create animation, audio, video and visual effects and interactive learning objects.
- Design, author, and maintain high-quality online courses assets using the Articulate 360 or similar tools.
- Participate in the planning and production of high-quality digital media resources in one or more of the following areas: digital audio and video production, graphic design and visual communication, web and mobile content development or programming, simulations, animations, games and interactive media, virtual and augmented reality.
- Create and enhance multimedia content using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.).
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to streamline development, enhance user experience, and create new offerings.
- Apply best practice to content production efficiencies in the use of templates, media management and production workflows including the use of Monday® project management software.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the team to determine appropriate visual, textual and animated elements.
- Develop templates and HTML code for content in the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Prepare artwork and media for final approval and distribution.
Project Management:
- Coordinate with the course production team to ensure timely delivery of course content.
- Participate in project planning and progress meetings, providing updates on content development status and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise.
Professional Skills, Qualities, and Experience Required:
- Degree with subsequent relevant experience in a communications and media field, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Project management experience and an understanding of project board design and update.
- Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
- Basic familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro for collaboration
- Experience creating a range of static and motion-based visuals
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
- Apply basic prompt engineering to optimise learning experiences using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, generative AI).
- Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to think creatively, explore new ideas and respectfully challenge existing practices in order to improve current ways of working.
