Be employed while you gain your qualification to teach at Plumbing at TAFE
Are you interested in becoming a Plumbing TAFE teacher but haven’t completed your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification?
We are piloting a new way with our client of becoming a TAFE teacher through a Quality TAFE Teacher Program. This program employs individuals as a teacher and supports you to complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. It guarantees full time employment (fixed-term contract) upon successful completion of studies.
Scheduled for a late 2025 / Early 2026 intake for the next Quality TAFE Teacher Program, we would love to hear from you!
How does it work?
If you are accepted into the program, as a plumber you will start working at TAFE while you undertake your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE), and simultaneously undertake work placement with students or apprentices.
Normally taking 9 months to complete, the custom delivery of this course will have you ready to teach classes sooner.
Program support
To support your career change from Plumbing, our client is connecting all new Quality TAFE Teacher staff with specialised mentors and a buddy system.
This TAE intake will solely be delivered to Plumbers just like you, who are perhaps new to study and seeking a career change. This will help foster a supportive environment of like-minded peers.
Work placement experience at our client will be supervised and will equip you with practical skills in teaching to support your learning.
Program delivery
Commencement: October, 2025 to early 2026
TAE content delivery duration: 23 weeks, full time
Delivery mode: On campus with practical classroom assessments (supervised)
Salary range: $85,000 - $111,000. Salary is determined based on industry, years of experience and recruitment process.
Quality TAFE Teacher – An example of what your week might look like
The course will be delivered Monday to Friday between 9am – 4.30pm.
Monday, Thursday and Friday will focus on the TAE course theory including individual and group work.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be supervised teaching via practical placement in a TAFE classroom with students or apprentices. This will support you to be ready and confident to start teaching on completion of your qualification.
