Reporting to the CEO and with several direct reports you will play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely reporting, shaping strategic insights, and building capability. The Financial Controller supports the Board and the CEO through the management of the financial operations of the organisation and its subsidiaries. You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as providing strategic financial guidance and modelling to support the company's growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

Instigate robust financial systems, policies and procedures including a comprehensive set of controls and budgets

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budgets cashflows, models and forecasts

Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control policies

Analise financial data and provide insightful recommendations to support business decision-making

Manage and develop the finance team, providing guidance and mentorship

Reviewing operations and recommending new productivity, risk mitigation and cost saving initiatives

Manage banking, insurances, payroll and ICT systems

Ensure financial systems, policies, and procedures are contemporary and continuously improved

Deliver forecasting, performance analysis, and recommendations for improving operational and financial performance

Lead audits, internal reviews, and compliance with legislative and financial regulations

Ensure appropriate delegation of authority, approval workflows, and spend control mechanisms

About You

CA/CPA qualification with 10+ years in a finance leadership role ideally within NFP, community housing and/or community service-based industries.

Experienced with cloud accounting platforms and able to build systems and processes for scale

Solid understanding of Australian accounting standards, compliance, payroll and tax regulations

Strong team leadership skills and experience managing finance functions end-to-end

Resilient, flexible, and confident in driving change and improvements

Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex financial information clearly

Stakeholder engagement skills

Proven ability to lead and mentor a team

Able to build systems and processes for scale

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
