About the Role

The Ethical Standards Branch leads Council’s organisational approach to integrity, governance, and complaint management.

As Senior Investigations Officer, you will support the delivery of high-level investigations, provide professional governance advice, and contribute to the resolution of escalated complaints. Your work will help ensure Council’s commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and legislative compliance is upheld.

Key responsibilities include:

Conduct and support investigations into misconduct and corrupt conduct

Analyse complex data and evidence to inform governance decisions

Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and correspondence for senior leaders

Assist with governance projects, legislative updates, and compliance programs

This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

You are a governance and investigations professional with a strong foundation in ethical decision-making, analytical thinking, and public sector integrity. With a degree in law, business, project management or a related discipline—or substantial experience in these fields—you bring a thoughtful and principled approach to complex matters.

Your strengths include advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in assessing information, identifying trends, and managing risk. You have demonstrated experience in evidence gathering, policy interpretation, and case management within a law enforcement or local government context.

You communicate with professionalism and precision, engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to support the resolution of complex and sensitive matters. Your investigative mindset, combined with your ability to interpret legislation and analyse evidence, enables you to contribute meaningfully to Council’s commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and sound governance.

Criminal History Check Required

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
