Role Description

Redland Orchards is a group of table grape and stone fruit orchards located in Lake Boga, Victoria, a part of the Murray Valley region. The enterprise comprises approximately 186 hectares of citrus, 62 hectares of table grapes and 39 hectares of stone fruit. It is focused on the production of premium, early season fruit for domestic and international markets.

The Orchard Manager works under the guidance of the Senior Management Team to deliver best practice, efficient operational management by planning, organising and controlling operations relating to stone fruit and citrus, driving continuous improvement in agronomic performance and production of the orchard. The role will manage effective resource planning for crop preparation and production to meet budget and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities are included but limited to the below:

Orchard Operations:

Plan and organise weekly operations in conjunction with the Farm Manager

Supervise staff and labour contractors to ensure best practice operations are adhered to

Timely application for all orchard calendar operations including pruning, spraying, tree training and harvest

Maintain machinery, monitor irrigation programmes, assist with orchard operations as part of the operations team and feed back to Senior Management on areas of concern regarding tree health markers

Work Health and Safety:

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all staff by ensure compliance with WHS policies and procedures, identifying and reporting risks and hazards

Ensure quality assurance and environmental programs are adhered to

Training and inducting existing and new members of staff, ensuring competency in machine and farm operations

Orchard Administration:

Complete administration activities accurately and on time

Use farm specific apps and programs to maintain appropriate and accurate records

Answer queries regarding orchard administration and paperwork

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Bachelor of Agricultural Science (or similar field) or relevant experience in a similar role

Current HRW or Forklift Licence

Current Chemical Handling Accreditation

Strong computer/app skills

Outstanding communication skills

Exceptional leadership abilities

Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team

First Aid Certificate
