About the role

This full-time Dairy Farm Operations Manager role at PR Henderson Farms' in Orbost, VIC 3888 is an excellent opportunity to oversee the day-to-day operations of a thriving dairy farm. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the farm's operations, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, productivity, and sustainability. We are a moderate input, pasture based dry land dairy farm and utilise a balance of river flats and undulating hill county. We currently milk 480 cows through a 50 unit rotary with cup removers, auto teat sprayer and easy dairy automatic draft system, inclusive with feed pad/loafing area.

What you'll be doing

Supervise and coordinate all farm activities, including feeding, milking, A.I. breeding, and herd management

Implement and monitor effective pasture management and cropping programs to maximise feed production

Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, infrastructure, and facilities

Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural, environmental, and workplace health and safety regulations

Analyse production data and financial information to optimise farm performance

Effective communication with the farm owner and other stakeholders to report on progress and address any issues

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of farm workers to foster a positive and productive work environment

What we're looking for

Significant experience (4 years) in dairy farm management or a similar role within the agricultural industry

Strong technical knowledge of dairy farming practices, including animal husbandry, pasture management, and crop production

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Proficient in using farm management software and technology to monitor and optimise operations

Commitment to animal welfare, sustainability, and environmental stewardship

Relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture, farm management, or a related field are highly desirable
