Suicide Prevention Services Coordinator
Anglicare Central QLD

  • Rockhampton, Gladstone or Emerald location
    Level 6 SCHCDSI Award – $110,455 + Super + Salary Packaging Options
  • Full-time fixed term until June 2026

Anglicare Central Queensland is currently seeking an experienced Suicide Prevention Services Coordinator to join their team. This newly available position plays a critical role in suicide prevention, combining clinical oversight with the delivery of non-clinical, recovery-focused services across Central Queensland.
This role can be based in Rockhampton, Gladstone or Emerald, offering flexibility for the selected candidate. AnglicareCQ understands that relocation may be required and is open to negotiating relocation assistance.

About the role:
The Suicide Prevention Services Coordinator is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of The Way Back Support Service – an initiative designed to support individuals after a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. This role provides the intersection between non-clinical support services and the clinical care delivered by the Central Queensland and Central West Hospital and Healthcare Service.
The Coordinator will oversee intake processes, ensure high-quality case planning, and support a team of practitioners through supervision, coaching and performance development. The role includes service reporting, operational oversight, stakeholder engagement and driving improvements in service quality and outcomes.
A small participant caseload may also form part of this role when required.

Mandatory requirements:

There are two essential qualifications and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or mental health nursing
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a combination of practitioner and leadership roles

In addition, the successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (Disability Services Positive Notice)
  • A current Queensland Open Driver’s Licence (or equivalent)

What you will bring to the role:

You will bring a collaborative and supportive leadership style, with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and guide staff in a community services setting. Your understanding of recovery-oriented practice and mental health service systems will enable you to contribute effectively to participant outcomes while maintaining alignment with best practice frameworks.
With experience in operational and service management, you will be confident in overseeing reporting processes, governance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your ability to work across service boundaries and collaborate with both clinical and community-based stakeholders will be essential to this role’s success.
You will have a strong commitment to supporting individuals with complex needs, demonstrating empathy, resilience and adaptability in how you respond to challenges. Additionally, your working knowledge of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016, the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013, and related standards and frameworks will support your compliance with program and legislative requirements.
