Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry trading as Stem Cell Donors Australia
At Stem Cell Donors Australia, our mission is simple but powerful: to save lives by connecting volunteer donors with patients in urgent need of blood stem cell transplants. As part of a global donor registry network, we play a vital role in connecting patients with matched donors, offering their best — and often only — chance at survival.
The Role
We’re seeking a Donor Support Coordinator to join our life-saving mission. In this role, you’ll case manage individual donor journeys — from the moment a donor is identified as a match, through to post-donation recovery. You’ll coordinate closely with donors, collection hospitals, and patient-facing teams to ensure every step of the donation process is smooth, safe, and supported.
This is a fast-paced, emotionally nuanced role that requires exceptional people skills, critical thinking, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under time pressure. You’ll be the steady, compassionate voice guiding donors through a process that could save someone’s life.
Key Responsibilities
What would a typical day look like?
You might be:
Contacting donors to deliver life-changing news — they may be a match for a patient in need of a blood stem cell transplant
Coordinating complex logistics with hospitals to support donor workups and collections
Case managing active donations, ensuring all medical, ethical, and logistical requirements are met
Supporting donors through every stage of the process, from initial testing to post-donation follow-up
Maintaining meticulous records and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to meet strict timeframes
What We’re Looking For
Experience in case coordination or case management in a clinical, health, or customer-facing setting
Emotional intelligence to support people in high-stakes, sensitive situations with care and professionalism
The ability to prioritise and problem-solve quickly in a dynamic, time-critical environment
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
High attention to detail, especially in managing sensitive personal and medical data
A tertiary qualification in Healthcare, Social Sciences or a related field is desirable
What You’ll Gain
A career with real-world impact — every case you manage is a chance to save a life
A supportive and passionate team committed to excellence and making an impact
Comprehensive training and ongoing development
Generous salary packaging benefits
