About the Role

We’re looking for a Kitchen Manager or experienced Chef to lead our back-of-house team at The Coffee Club Ballina. In this fast-paced role, your culinary skills, leadership, and attention to detail will be essential in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes to recipe specifications, including seasonal and dietary-specific items

Ensure consistency, portion control, and timely service across all meals

Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and uphold strict hygiene and HACCP standards

Monitor the freshness, quality, and correct storage of all food items

Maintain accurate cooking temperatures and operation of kitchen equipment

Plate and present food in line with brand expectations

Support menu development, food cost management, and function planning when required

Supervise and train kitchen staff, including apprentices and juniors

Conduct stock control, FIFO rotation, and requisition of ingredients and equipment

Communicate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service

Oversee kitchen operations during peak service and contribute to workflow efficiency

Ensure all equipment is well maintained and the kitchen remains spotless at all times

As a Kitchen Manager, you must:

Have at least certificate IV in Commercial Cookery / Kitchen Management

Minimum 1 year of recent, relevant cooking experience

Leadership capabilities and strong communication skills

Able to manage a team and remain calm under pressure

A commitment to high standards in food quality, hygiene, and kitchen safety

Strong time management and a proactive, can-do attitude
