About the Program
Our Refugee and Migrant Settlement Services (RAMSS) supports refugees and migrants who have lived in Darwin, Palmerston, and surrounding rural areas for less than five years. The service assists individuals and families in navigating and accessing a wide range of community resources, offering settlement information, referrals, and support across areas such as housing, income, health, legal matters, education, employment, and immigration. RAMSS is committed to promoting independence and successful integration into the community.
About the Opportunity
This vital role supports newly arrived refugees and migrants in Darwin, Palmerston, and surrounding rural areas, helping them navigate life in Australia and build strong community connections.
As a Settlement Worker, you will provide culturally safe, trauma-informed case management and group support to individuals and families who have lived in the region for less than five years. You’ll deliver practical assistance, referrals, and education across areas such as housing, income, health, legal matters, education, employment, and immigration.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver strengths-based casework and group sessions tailored to client needs
- Facilitate access to essential services and promote community participation
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to build capacity
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to service improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications in Social Work, Community Welfare, or related field
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful, and client-focused practice

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must provide 100 points of identification to confirm Australian citizenship or eligibility to work in Australia; possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a current National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a valid NT driver’s licence.
Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status
