The Role
The Senior Payroll Specialist will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the payroll function across Australia and New Zealand. This standalone role involves managing end-to-end payroll processes through an external provider (ADP) while serving as the primary contact for employee payroll queries. You will collaborate with HR and Finance teams to maintain compliance and drive process improvements. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee payroll preparation, administration, reporting, and analysis to meet strict deadlines.
- Maintain and update payroll, time & attendance, and employee self-service systems.
- Act as the key liaison with the payroll service provider for system enhancements and legislative changes.
- Ensure timely payment of superannuation, payroll tax, and termination calculations.
- Provide accurate data for audits, reconciliations, and global/local reporting requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency.
The Candidate
We are seeking an experienced payroll professional with a proven track record in managing end-to-end payroll processes independently. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment. Essential qualifications and skills include:
- Demonstrated experience running multiple payrolls, ideally using ADP, in a managed services environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll-related legislation and ability to interpret awards/agreements.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and aptitude for learning new systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service focus, with the ability to handle confidential information.
