About the Role

The Infrastructure and Regional Coordination branch is looking to fill two temporary Clerk Grade 9/10 roles within the Hunter New England team, with placements through to June 2027 and June 2029, based in Newcastle and Moree.

As a Senior Regional Coordination Officer, you'll lead and coordinate complex cross-agency projects that directly support the Government's priorities across regional NSW as well as supporting and driving multi-stakeholder initiatives that deliver long-term benefits to local communities.

You'll work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders-including government agencies, local councils, industry groups and community organisations-to help shape solutions, influence decisions, and deliver meaningful outcomes. Your advice will inform senior decision-makers including the Premier, Ministers and Department executives.

We're Looking For

  • Strategic Coordination Experience: Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and implement regional and cross-government projects that support long-term outcomes for communities
  • Regional Knowledge and Community Focus: Deep understanding of the economic, environmental and social issues facing regional NSW, particularly in the context of long-term community development in the Hunter New England.
  • Whole-of-Government Delivery: Strong track record in delivering outcomes across multiple agencies, including navigating intergovernmental frameworks, supporting Regional Leadership Executives, and preparing high-level advice to senior executives, Ministers and the Premier.
  • Government Knowledge and Policy Insight: Sound understanding of the machinery of government, Cabinet processes, ministerial briefings and public sector accountability, with the ability to represent departmental interests in negotiations and decision-making forums
  • Communication and Briefing Excellence: High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare succinct, accurate and persuasive briefs, correspondence and stakeholder presentations
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Influence: Proven success in building and maintaining effective working relationships with government agencies, councils, non-government organisations and community leaders, including the ability to broker solutions in complex and politically sensitive environments
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, multiple priorities and meet deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality outcomes

You will hold a current driver's licence and be willing to travel as required to engage with stakeholders across regional NSW.
