The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Commercial Officer to join Space Systems Branch in the Space Domain Awareness System Program Office (SDACSPO) providing contracting support, with an initial focus on the evaluation lifecycle.
Accountabilities include:
- Preparing briefings to board members on evaluation plans, processes and administrative arrangements while maintaining oversight of all evaluation activities.
- Attention to security protocols, including registration of responses and secure storage management.
- Initial screening activities to verify compliance with the content requirements, format standards and registration conditions detailed in the Request documentation.
- Generating screening reports, coordinating information distribution and scheduling evaluation meetings.
- Procurement planning, tendering and contract formation, contract management, and drafting correspondence ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
- Timely and accurate advice and services for procurement policy, technical, commercial, legal, financial investigation and other requirements to support contract management outcomes.
- Application of legislative and policy compliance obligations related to procurement and contract management.
About our Team
Space Systems Branch acquires and sustains capabilities to support the four distinct space power roles conducted by the Australian Defence Force in support of Australia’s strategic priorities. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel.
The team works from Brindabella Park offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies. Space Domain Awareness and Control Systems Program Office (SDACSPO) is located in Edinburgh, South Australia and manages Space Domain Awareness and Control in-service capabilities and capabilities in acquisition, engaging with local, regional and international enterprise partners and suppliers, consisting of both foreign governments and industry, to provide support to the Capability Manager. This demands a strong understanding of domestic and international space domain government frameworks and controls.
Our Ideal Candidate
SDACSPO is seeking a skilled Commercial Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have commercial experience, preferably in large complex organisations. They will also have, or be able to quickly acquire, a strong knowledge of government procurement frameworks, legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. The Commercial Officer will also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear briefings and comprehensive report generation.
