Fully maintained private use motor vehicle (or vehicle allowance)
35 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO
About the role
Woollahra Council has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Senior Urban Designer to join the team on a permanent full time basis.
You will join a collaborative team of multi-skilled professionals with town planning, heritage conservation and urban design skills. This team forms the Strategic Planning Department within the Planning and Place Division.
In this role you will undertake and inform urban design and strategic planning projects as programmed through Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan. You will provide senior advice and direction on complex urban design and strategic planning matters to the Council, Council Officers and external customers.
An important aspect of the role with include presenting projects to Councillors, working parties and community groups which can require after-hours work.
About you
We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled individual who demonstrates previous experience with NSW planning legislation and is committed to delivering a high quality service to a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be a high achiever with:
A tertiary qualification/s in either Urban Design or Town Planning or related field.
A through working knowledge of, and experience with, NSW planning legislation.
Extensive skills and experience in critically reviewing urban design and built form outcomes.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Skills and experience in the formulation and implementation of, and participation in, community consultation programs, including presentations to public forums.
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
A proficiency in research and problem solving, providing clear concise recommendations for action within tight timeframes.
The ability to provide creative input into the team operations.
Highly developed skills in project development and project management.
Time-management skills, with a particular ability to balance priorities.
Skills and experience in 3D modelling software.
Well-developed skills in the use of PC office software such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Excellent graphic and presentation skills.
Current class C driver’s licence.
