About the role

A great chance has come up to work at Merri-bek Libraries. This is a permanent part-time position at the Glenroy and Fawkner Libraries.

As a Library Officer, you will:

• Help customers from different backgrounds use libraries to borrow library items, help with photocopiers and printing, use our public computers, and find information
• Help promote library programs for all ages
• Run programs with help from other library staff
• Return and shelve library items
• Tidy library shelves
• Help maintain library collections in community languages

Skills and experience require to perform the role

• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to a wide range of community members
• Flexibility and reliability
• Good problem-solving skills
• A current Working with Children Check
• Demonstrated understanding of Child safety and wellbeing requirements in a public library
• Priority is given to people who speak a language other than English eg. Urdu, Nepali, Arabic or Turkish
