Job Description

As a Mechanical Fitter working in the water and wastewater sector, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical plant and equipment across various water treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate reliably, efficiently, and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical maintenance on pumps, valves, gearboxes, mixers, and associated water infrastructure.

Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions and preventative maintenance.

Interpret technical drawings and mechanical schematics.

Complete confined space entries and work at heights in accordance with safety standards.

Participate in on-site installations, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.

Maintain detailed records of work completed and materials used.

Ensure all work is completed in line with WHS and water authority standards.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

Mechanical Engineering Certificate III or IV (Fitting & Machining or similar).

Confined Space Entry certification (current).

Working at Heights certification (current).

Valid Australian Driver's Licence.

Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

Experience in the water and wastewater industry.

Knowledge of asset maintenance systems.

Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
