About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and community-minded Canteen Manager to lead the operations of our school canteen. This role is vital in providing nutritious and appealing food options to students across our three-school campus, in alignment with the SA School Canteen Network (SASCN) and the Department for Education’s Healthy Eating Right Bite Policy.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily canteen operations in collaboration with the Governing Council and Canteen Sub-Committee.
Prepare and serve healthy food options that meet dietary needs and school guidelines.
Maintain food safety standards, inventory control, and WHS compliance.
Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and students.
Support school events with catering as required.
Working Relationships
Reports to the Thiele Primary School Governing Council and Campus Conference via the sub-committee and Principals.
Member of the Canteen Sub-Committee.
Works closely with canteen volunteers, students, and staff.
Conditions of Employment
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 2:00pm during school terms (subject to variation).
Remuneration: Casual hourly rate per Fast Food Industry Award 2010, Level 3. Includes superannuation, WorkCover, and long service leave entitlements.
Tenure: 1-year contract starting Monday 11 August 2025, with a probationary period ending Term 4, 2025. Option to extend for an additional year based on performance reviews.
Notice Period: One term required for contract termination.
Person Specification
Skills & Attributes:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Organised, reliable, and proactive in promoting healthy food choices.
Experience:
Food preparation, handling, and storage.
Managing stock, ordering, and handling money.
Leading volunteers and working in a school or small business environment.
Knowledge:
WHS regulations and food safety standards.
Healthy food preparation and sustainability practices.
Familiarity with QKR or online canteen systems (desirable).
Essential Requirements:
WWCC (Working With Children Check)
RRHAN training
Protective Practices training
Adherence to the SA Public Sector Code of Ethics
