We are seeking an experienced Head Chef or Cook to manage our kitchen. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create a menu that reflects the rich local flavors and showcases their creativity, while ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the kitchen to ensure smooth operations and an efficient workflow, including rostering and staff performance.
Develop and execute a seasonal menu that highlights local produce and reflects the unique culinary identity of the West Coast.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Manage inventory, control costs, and implement effective kitchen procedures.
Utilise local Tasmanian suppliers to source fresh and sustainable ingredients where practical.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent preferred but someone with substantial Cooking Skills without a qualification will still be considered.
Food Safety Supervisor - SITXFSA005 / SITXFSA006 accreditation (essential or willing to obtain).
Strong cooking skills with a focus on creativity and innovation.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Knowledge of local Tasmanian produce and a commitment to sustainability.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a supportive environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Computer and kitchen systems experience including Buy Force Live (an advantage) - however training will be provided.
Requirements:
Proven track record of success for at least 3 years in a similar role.
We support employing local but due to skills shortages in our industry and region, we urge anyone who has a willingness to relocate to the remote West Coast of Tasmania to apply.
