Newtown Mission:

A Parish Mission of the Uniting Church in Australia with multiple sites across the Inner West of Sydney. Newtown Mission is building community engaged in creativity and compassion, fuelled by our Christian commitments. We are engaged in a wide range of activities including emergency food and welfare support, regular Christian worship, affordable housing, a Creative Arts centre, and developing local community connections.

The Role:

1. Developing and Resourcing the network of artists, performers, and creatives across the life of Newtown Mission and its associated communities (including events, training, retreats, Make Arts nights)

2. Managing the bookings for spaces at Annandale Creative Arts Centre, Camperdown Hall, and Paddington Uniting Church in consultation with the Admin team.

3. Working with the Business and Operations Manager to develop a business plan for the creative arts within Newtown Mission including studios spaces, exhibitions, and other regular bookings.

4. Assisting Newtown Mission explore “Valuing Creativity” across its life.

5. Coordinating exhibitions and art events across the life of Newtown Mission.

Skills and Experience:

- Qualifications in Community Development and/or Arts/Events Management (desirable)

- Experience in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and diverse teams; comprising volunteers and paid workers.

- Experience in facilitating creative spaces and events.

- Understanding of risk assessment and policy formation to ensure safe and effective events.

- An understanding of, and commitment to the work and life of the Uniting Church.
