KEY PURPOSE
The Program Activity Coordinator -Backswing is part of the organisation’s Settlement and Community Engagement Division and is funded by the Department of Social Services. The role of the Backswing Activity Coordinator is coordinate the implementation of activities under the Economic and Community Participation component of the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Program to support people with disability participate in and contribute to, community life in Western Sydney. Backswing is an empowering Initiative funded by the Australian Government. Backswing assists people with disabilities at risk of long-term unemployment in areas of high need and entrenched disadvantage. Western Sydney Backswing Phase III is a 56-week employment program comprised of simulated workplace projects for people with disabilities in Western Sydney. Each Backswing project involves a team of people with disabilities devising and implementing a marketing campaign on an issue of importance to their local community. Backswing is embedded within the local community, drawing on participants’ strengths, their natural supports, community and local employers. Backswing will build each participant’s core skills for work, address nonvocational barriers to employment, and build a network that functions during and after each Backswing project to facilitate the participants gaining long-term employment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Comply with Work Plan requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee the Backswing Activity Work plan across Western Sydney.
- Provide leadership to the Backswing team to enable an outcome focused, flexible and responsive service.
- In consultation with the Settlement & Community Services Manager (SCSM), ensure that the ILC objectives, standards and target expectations are met.
- Co-ordinate and monitor the Backswing Trainer(s) records, including rosters, timesheets and leave arrangements
- Provide supervisory support to the Backswing Trainer with regard to client issues and in accordance with funding body practice guidelines
- Co-ordination and submission of information for reports to DSS
- In consultation with the Matchbox Works and Backswing Trainer, coordinate strategies that ensure successful completion of the project evaluation.
- Group coaching and facilitation of core content:
- Workplace induction, skills assessments, team building, marketing and advertising, project management and planning, digital literacy, creative development, layout development print and online, personal development, career coaching
- Round table delivery and presentation
- Manage and maintain training facilities and equipment
- Project management
- Establishing positive workplace environment.
- Liaise with Backswing team and stakeholders
- Evaluating participant development and project outcomes
- Ensure reporting is accurate and submitted on time;
- Support and assist SydWest MS students and volunteers if required;
- Comply with all regulatory, funding standards and SydWest MS policies and procedures;
- Comply with all reporting requirements as directed by SCSM
- Participate in community consultation, needs analysis, program development and evaluation as part of the Community Engagement Division;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ensure personal safety and have a positive attitude towards a work-life balance.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Human Services, Social Work or related area and
- 2 years’ training and coaching experience
- Experience in the employment sector supporting job seekers with disability(desirable).
- Experience in developing strong and collaborative working relationship with the employers, marketing and other teams to design and deploy effective strategies to facilitate job placements for clients.
- Project coordination experience
- Experience in creative digital design, social media experience, exceptional digital skills.
- High level communication skills and report writing;
- Experience providing effective, strength- based and person-centered services/programs clients;
- Proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office programs; • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Current driver’s license and access to a full registered motor vehicle;
- National Police Check and Working with Children Check required
