About Us

Haven Early Learning is a well-established and respected ECEC service within the Rowville community. We pride ourselves on providing quality education and care for all children, while building professional and caring relationships with families. Our long-standing team members are at the heart of all decisions and practices as we continually inspire, empower and support everyone to achieve their best.

Our service has four beautiful care rooms, all with individual yards with children aged between 6 months and 6 years. All rooms are rostered with permanent staff members each day and have one staff member over ratio to support breaks, with a dedicated and experienced leadership teams including lead educators and kindergarten teachers. Management at Haven includes a centre director, combined with the role of educational leader working five days a week, alongside the ongoing support of an area manager.

Haven drives continuous improvement and quality, while setting realistic expectations for our team with our curriculums built upon play-based learning with aspects of intentional teaching, routines and collaboration (with families, children and staff) intertwined within.

The Role:

Haven Early Learning is seeking an Assistant Director. This leadership role will work alongside the centre manager (off the floor) supporting all day to day aspects of the service including administration, guidance of staff members, interactions with children and maintaining positive relationships with families.

This position will be:

2-3 days per week (with the opportunity to extend hours)

Office position (rostered out of rooms), working within ratio when required.

Completing the centre manager role (when needed due to absence)

Being a leader at Haven you will be interacting with all families, children and staff in a professional, supportive and kind manner. This will include sharing feedback, bringing your experience and implementing ideas to further guide and mentor our professional team and quality practices.

The role requires someone who can problem solve, use their initiative and complete tasks that are inclusive of (but not limited to):

Being involved in the overall enrolment and booking process including family tours, waitlist enquiries, weekly bookings and account management.

Completing administration tasks with strong communication skills including emails, phone calls, filing and resource/supply orders.

Creating external engagement and showcasing Haven’s strengths by being contributing to the service’s social media platforms, newsletters and community events.

Compliance must always be upheld including ensuring ratio, staff rostering, centre audits, collaboration in risk assessments and guidance of workplace health and safety.

Lastly, working within our leadership team includes professional development, reflective conversations, building team morale, giving advice, always listening and ongoing involvement in Haven’s QIP.

Role Criteria

A current ACECQA-approved Diploma qualification (in Early Childhood Education and Care)

2+ year experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care Sector (in a similar role preferred)

Current Working with Children Check (employee)

Experience using systems including XAP, Storypark, Tanda, KIMS and Arrival (preferred but not essential)

Strong knowledge of the EYLF 2.0, VEYLDF and NQS, alongside The National Law & Regulations

Ongoing involvement in the services RAP, policies, procedures and Sustainability actions
