
Flexible Education Youth Support Worker

The Youth Worker role at Flexible Education will be part of a multidisciplinary team to support high school aged young people to engage in learning. The role will include:
- providing transport to young people to and from school in the Flexible Education vehicles
- working with young people to support their engagement in the outreach program
- support students to regulate
- monitor students progress
- support / deliver programs as part of the program
The ideal candidate has experience in providing timely, high-quality services. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of supports and be familiar with education settings. They will also have the ability to impact positively on student outcomes through developing a strong understanding of student need, trauma informed practice, strong communication and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work within the Safe and Supportive Schools policy, have strong interpersonal skills and be able to successfully prioritise competing priorities in their day-to-day work.
We currently have vacancies in the below programs:
Murrumbidgee School – Located within Bimberi Youth Justice Centre, this school delivers educational and training to young people in custody or recently released, helping them re-engage and rebuild.
Muliyan – A voluntary transitional program for years 7-10 students who need complex and intensive support to re-engage with learning.
Outreach - supporting young people who are completing alternative education programs in an outreach capacity.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
MANDATORY
- Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration
- Current driver’s license
DESIRABLE
- Certificate IV in Youth Work
- First Aid Certificate
- Trauma Informed Training
- Cultural Awareness Training
Note: These are temporary positions available for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency. These positions will be filled at either classification depending on experience.
