The Role
Based at our Drysdale North or Alanvale campus, the Learning Support Tutor – Foundation Skills provides essential tutoring in literacy, communication, numeracy, digital skills, study skills and employability skills to students undertaking vocational education and training programs.
This is a part-time 0.5 FTE position (36.75 hours per fortnight), with flexibility to negotiate working days and hours with the successful candidate.
Working closely with delivery teams, you'll work with students individually and in small groups—both in person and online—to help them build the skills they need to understand learning materials, build confidence, and apply their knowledge practically. This is a student-focused role with a strong emphasis on collaboration with your team and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Tutor students to build foundation skills and support assessments
- Provide timely feedback and keep tutoring resources up to date
- Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring with vocational training
- Attend team meetings and pursue professional development
- Complete admin tasks in a timely manner
What You’ll Bring
- Solid foundation skills knowledge and group/1:1 tutoring experience
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with good time management
- Familiarity with technology and a proactive attitude
- Relevant qualifications and experience in foundation skills delivery
Desirable
- Previous experience in foundation skills tutoring or teaching to young people or adults
- Previous experience in vocational education and training
A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
