Part-Time Fleet & Workshop Assistant

Location: Based in Emerald with occasional site travel
Reports to: Workshop Supervisor / Operations Manager
Employment Type: Part-time or Casual (to be confirmed)

Remuneration: Approximately $30 - $40 /per hour (To be negotiated, dependent on skills and Qualifications)

To directly support the day-to-day upkeep of MineMend’s fleet, equipment, and workshop. This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping all vehicles and machinery clean, functional, and ready for site work, while also helping receive and organise workshop materials and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet and Equipment Upkeep

Wash, clean, and tidy MineMend’s tractors, telehandlers, light vehicles, and trailers.

Carry out basic servicing tasks (oil checks, tyre pressures, topping fluids).

Identify wear, damage, or faults and report them for follow-up maintenance.

Ensure machines and vehicles are “site ready” with all gear securely stowed.

Workshop & Yard Maintenance

Keep the workshop and storage areas clean, tidy, and functional.

Return tools, parts, and equipment to their correct location after use.

Set up safe battery charging stations and check equipment storage.

General yard maintenance (mowing, weed control)

Materials and Supply Intake

Receive deliveries and check off goods (tools, seed, PPE, parts).

Label and store new items in the correct place.

Re-stock site trailers, chemical storage, and drone gear as needed.

Notify supervisors or admin team when stocks are running low.

Support for Field and Workshop Teams

Help load/unload machines, trailers, or pallets.

Assist with drone setups, fuel mixing, or transport to job sites.

Pitch in with odd jobs like welding prep, tyre changes, or organising kits.

How Success is Measured

Machines and vehicles are consistently clean and well-presented.

Inventory is tidy, traceable, and available when needed.

Workshop stays clean, safe, and functional.

Work is completed without needing constant supervision.

Skills and Experience

Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in machinery.

Ability to work with your hands and stay productive without constant oversight.

Physically fit and willing to do manual work outdoors and in the shed.

Forklift licence and/or MR/HR truck licence is a plus.

Reliable and takes pride in doing a neat, complete job.

Position Summary

The Fleet & Workshop Assistant is a hands-on support role at MineMend focused on keeping our machines, light vehicles, and workshop facilities clean, tidy, and functional. This part-time position suits someone who enjoys working with machinery, keeping things organised, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.

You’ll be performing light servicing, cleaning gear when it returns from site, and helping keep inventory and parts storage organised and functional. If you're the kind of person who notices when things are out of place and just fixes it — this role is for you.

Core Responsibilities

Servicing & Mechanical Support

Carry out basic servicing on:

Tractors

Spreaders

Trailers

Telehandlers

Tasks include oil/filter changes, greasing, fluid checks, and light diagnostics.

Record services completed and notify management of any faults or issues.

🧼 Cleaning & Machine Turnaround

Wash and detail vehicles and machines as soon as they return from site.

Maintain a “ready-for-work” standard — interiors clean, tools put away, no rubbish or clutter.

Ensure machines are turned around quickly for their next deployment.

🧹 Workshop & Yard Upkeep

Clean up after yourself at all times — tools back, benches wiped, bins emptied.

Keep the nuts and bolts rack tidy, tools sorted, and commonly used items in place.

Help organise and maintain the parts shipping container — remove junk, group useful gear, and maintain clear access.

📦 Materials & Supply Intake

Receive and check off deliveries of parts, PPE, seed, fertiliser, tools, and fuel.

Label and store stock properly and keep storage shelves and bins tidy.

Notify the team when items are running low or equipment needs restocking.

🧰 General Support

Assist with workshop tasks, trailer setups, minor repairs, and odd jobs.

Help prepare and clean drone kits, fuel supplies, or field gear when needed.

Be a go-to set of hands around the yard and workshop.

Fit and capable of lifting, carrying, and moving around a yard/workshop.

Mandatory – Current Queensland Driver’s license.

Bonus: Forklift licence, HR/MR truck licence, or ag/mechanical experience.

Working Hours

Part-time role (e.g., 2–3 days/week or 15–25 hours depending on work demands)

Hours can be flexible around the right candidate

Able to be on call for material coordination and/or parts deliveries
