The Work Health and Safety Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
- The Manager of Work Health and Safety serves as the key specialist advisor for the Mackay Hospital and Health Service on all matters related to the Work Health and Safety Unit (WHS Unit) within the People and Culture Portfolio.
- This role encompasses accountability for core health, safety, and wellbeing systems and practices, employee rehabilitation from both work-related and non-work-related injuries, effective return-to-work strategies, and strategic development.
- The Manager is responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in the health and safety management and practices of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service, with a focus on achieving optimal performance and outcomes.
- Engage in and support the commitment for ensuring and improving the physical and psychological health, and safety of workers and others.

The Work Health and Safety Unit, part of the People and Culture Portfolio, supports various health, safety, and wellbeing systems and frameworks. This unit is dedicated to enhancing the safety culture and fostering strong partnerships and engagement with broader teams, managers, and employees of the Health Service. Their goal is to ensure the safety of workers, patients, and the public.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
