Are you passionate about sport, health, and helping your community stay active? Ready to build a career while gaining a nationally recognised qualification? The City of Karratha is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Sport and Recreation Trainee to join our team!

As a trainee, you’ll get hands-on experience working across some of our region’s best facilities – including the Karratha Leisureplex and Wickham Recreation Precinct – while learning from experienced professionals in the industry.

What you’ll do:

• Help plan and deliver community fitness programs, sporting activities, and special events
• Assist with customer service, program coordination, and daily facility operations
• Support instructors, coaches, and managers to deliver high-quality recreational services
• Learn about equipment and venue safety, administration, and local government operations
• Complete a Certificate III or IV in Sport and Recreation with paid study time and mentoring

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in sport, fitness, and recreation
• Is eager to learn and open to new experiences
• Communicates well and enjoys working with people
• Can manage time effectively and follow directions
• Has some experience in community sport, volunteering or customer service (a plus!)

Eligibility requirements:

• Willing to undertake a traineeship in Sport and Recreation
• National Police Clearance (valid within the last 6 months)
• C Class driver’s licence (desirable)
