We are currently offering a traineeship which combines structured training with paid employment – allowing you to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in a real-world work environment.

About the role:

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Surveyor to join our Construction and Maintenance team on a fixed term full-time basis of 2 years.

This role offers hands-on experience in surveying, assisting with site inspections, measurements and data collection to support infrastructure projects. You will work closely with experience surveyors to gain practical skills while contributing to the planning and execution of construction and maintenance works.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in surveying, strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity to develop skills and experience with structured training and mentorship.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Compliance with all relevant Occupational Safety and Health legislation and completion of all work in a safe and efficient manner having regard to own safety, the public’s safety and that of other workers.
  • Delivery of outstanding customer service with a community minded attitude and willingness to improve the quality of life for our community
  • Complete the requirements of a Certificate IV in Surveying & Spatial Information Services and progress towards completion of a Diploma in Surveying & Spatial Information Services.
  • Carry out a variety of surveying and civil engineering tasks as requested by the Senior Surveyor and Engineering Supervisors, associated with the general surveying for the construction and maintenance of roads, drains, footpaths and other Engineering Assets.
  • Operate and maintain all associated plant and equipment in accordance to City of Swan’s policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Progress towards Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services or willingness to enrol and study by commencement of employment
  • Willingness and commitment to learn and apply learning in the workplace
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • A satisfactory National Police Certificate
  • Safety Awareness Training Certificate ‘White Card’

The salary for this position will be from $66,032.98 - $71,866.82 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant
