About the Project

Yilgarn Iron Investments is restarting a portfolio of historic iron ore operations in WA’s Yilgarn region, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. As we move from restart into production, road and haulage infrastructure is critical to enabling access, efficient ore movement, and safe operations across the project footprint.

About the Role

We’re seeking a practical and detail-focused Civil Engineer to lead the design, specification, and implementation of road infrastructure — including haul roads, light vehicle access roads, laydown areas, and associated civil assets.

You’ll work closely with mining, construction, and logistics teams to ensure road networks are fit-for-purpose, safe, and cost-effective. The role will involve both design review and field verification, including working with contractors and internal stakeholders to support delivery and ongoing performance of key infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Lead or support the design of heavy and light vehicle roads, including haulage routes, intersections, bunding, drainage, and pavement specifications

Conduct field assessments and collaborate with site teams to ensure designs align with operational needs and ground conditions

Specify design criteria in accordance with relevant codes and site safety standards

Provide civil input into mine access, infrastructure layout, and logistics planning

Work with construction teams and contractors to guide delivery and resolve technical issues on site

Support scoping and prioritisation of future road upgrades and expansions

Review design drawings, QA documentation, and contractor submittals

Assist with monitoring road performance and recommending ongoing improvements or remediation works

What We’re Looking For

3-8 years’ experience in civil engineering, ideally with a focus on mine roads, haul roads, or heavy vehicle access

Strong understanding of geometric design principles, drainage, and earthworks in remote / arid environments

Proficiency in relevant software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, 12D, or similar)

Able to interpret ground conditions and adapt designs accordingly

Strong communication and ability to work between office and field teams

Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering

Manual WA C-Class Driver’s Licence

RPEng or CPEng registration not essential but viewed favourably
