The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.
As a Nurse/Midwife Clinical Coordinator, you provide advice and support to the Primary and Public Health Care (PHC) staff on quality improvement processes, clinical standards and use of established systems. This involves assisting staff develop quality improvement activities in line with best practice standards and optimal patient outcomes. Including the development and implementation of guidelines, interpreting established policies and supporting change management.
Located in Alice Springs, you provide specialist clinical care, advice and education for client groups with diverse and or complex care requirements, support the delivery of excellence in nursing and midwifery care, and mentoring less experienced staff to assist in the further development of their skills and experience. Other duties include the active participation in the procurement of standard clinical equipment and the willingness to travel to remote areas by 4WD or light aircraft.
To be successful, you will be an accomplished Nurse/Midwife with a Graduate Diploma, or equivalent, and beyond entry to practice certificate, registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery supported by well-developed clinical decision making.
Demonstrated proficiency in the understanding, application, analysis and interpretation of a professional body of knowledge and experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policies. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and promote cooperation is essential.
