About Us
At Oxfam Australia, we believe all lives are equal and no one should live in poverty. We are a member of Oxfam International, a global confederation working with partners and local communities in 87 countries.
Would you like to join this global movement of people working together to eliminate the inequalities that keep people in poverty?
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the role of Company Secretary.
Why you will love working at Oxfam
As part of the Governance and Executive team, you will use your skills, qualifications, lived experience and initiative to tackle inequality and fight poverty. Yes, you read that right, lived experience and initiative, because it is not all about key selection criteria.
Research shows that women will only apply for a job if they meet 100% of the selection criteria, while men will apply if they meet an average of 60%. We understand that life teaches us so much, so if you don't meet all the criteria but just know that you have what it takes, then please apply.
The Role
As the Company Secretary, you will support the governing and monitoring role of the Board and advise the Board and its committees on governance matters, including ongoing compliance with the ACNC’s Governance Standards. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will foster meaningful and constructive relationships between the Board and Executives.
You will manage at least one direct report: the Board Support Officer. In this role, you will also support the Board Nominations Committee, Board Support Officer and the People & Capability Team with Board recruitment, induction and succession planning in line with board composition requirements and skills matrices.

- Experience of operating in a not-for-profit context or other highly regulated environments, as a trusted advisor to executives.
- High level digital literacy, including proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Box and Diligent;
- Demonstrated professional ethical standards, integrity, diplomacy, discretion and a high level of confidentiality;
