An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic and passionate Work Health & Safety Advisor to join a dedicated team within the Not-for-Profit / NDIS sector.
We are seeking a proactive professional with demonstrated experience in managing workers' compensation claims and injury management, who can drive WHS initiatives and foster a positive safety culture across the organization. The position is full-time, however we would welcome interest from part-time applicants to ensure we attract the right person for this integral position.
Reporting directly to the Manager, People and Culture, the Work Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for championing a safety culture and supporting leaders and employees to understand, implement and embed safe practices of work; and to ensure all activities and processes consistent with SensesWA requirements are conducted in accordance with policy frameworks and legislation. This will be achieved through the provision of coaching, training, guidance, development of programs, effective communication, and timely reporting in all areas of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).
Major Accountabilities
Model and comply with WHS responsibilities, including policies, operating procedures and work instructions.
Recommend operational and business requirements to support business strategic objectives to achieve organisational-wide continuous focus on WHS best practice.
Develop, communicate and evaluate WHS procedures and programs and recommend appropriate risk control measures.
Reporting all risks, hazards, near misses and accidents using correct procedure and work instruction and ensuring they are assessed, and that significant incidents are investigated with adequate controls applied.
Manage the investigation of all employee safety incidents and collaborate with stakeholders regarding client incidents including the closure and review of corrective actions in a timely manner .
Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits to ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Management System and relevant legislation.
Participate in the Safety Induction and training of all employees.
Coordinate all injury management activities including early intervention, development and/or coordination of return-to-work plans and active management of workers compensation claims across SensesWA.
Be a key liaison for WorkSafeWA for all incidents which require legal reporting, including but not limited to return-to-work plans, and for any subsequent audits and/or investigations.
Essential Requirements
Certificate IV Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) [minimum].
Demonstrable knowledge of contemporary legislation relating to work health and safety, and injury management.
Proven highly developed organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Past success in effective communication across a variety of diverse audiences, including internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in a work health and safety role.
Desirable Requirements
Highly developed computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Injury Management Coordinator qualifications or extensive experience in injury management including management of Workers’ Compensation claims.
Experience working in disability services industry or other not-for-profit environment.
Essential Compliance Criteria
National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Clearance.
Current WA driver’s licence.
May be required to travel or work across and/or be located at any of the SensesWA locations.
