As we grow, we’re seeking a qualified, commercially minded Financial Manager to lead our internal financial control function and support key areas like contract review and internal HR compliance.

The Role

This is a hands-on role focused on financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, and commercial oversight. You’ll work closely with the directors to monitor project profitability, prepare internal reports, liaise with our external accountants, and ensure all contracts (HR and legal) are reviewed and documented correctly.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

• Prepare and manage internal monthly P&L and project-based financial reporting

• Develop and maintain project budgets and cash flow forecasts

• Track cost-to-complete vs actuals across multiple builds

• Liaise with external accountants for BAS, tax, and annual compliance

• Support financing applications, drawdowns, and lender reporting

Commercial & Legal Oversight

• Review client, subcontractor, and supplier contracts

• Track project legal documentation and ensure timely execution

• Coordinate insurance renewals and legal compliance items

• Flag and mitigate risks from a financial/legal standpoint

HR & Internal Governance

• Draft and manage employment contracts and key HR documentation

• Support onboarding and termination processes

• Ensure compliance with Fair Work, award conditions, and leave tracking

• Maintain staff policy documentation (leave, travel, code of conduct, etc.)

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting role

• CPA or CA qualified (or working towards it)

• Experience working in construction, property, or a project-based business

• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills

• Proactive, reliable, and capable of managing multiple priorities

• Knowledge of feasibility modelling, job costing processes

• Understanding of basic commercial law and HR processes

• Experience with small-medium business cash flow and funding cycles

• Familiarity with employment law or construction contract law

• Construction/ property development cash flow management
