The Company
An award-winning company in the infrastructure sector with a strong presence across Queensland. As the business continues to grow, an experienced Finance Manager is needed to join the team and support senior leadership. With a new business division experiencing high-growth, their is huge opportunity and growth potential on this role.
The Role
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the construction division, ensuring accurate financial management, cost control, and compliance with industry regulations. Reporting to the CFO, this role will manage financial reporting, budgeting, and project cost control while leading the Accounts Payable Officer and Accounts Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial activities, cost management, and reporting for construction projects
- Prepare monthly financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow monitoring
- Maintain the Asset Register, Bank Guarantees, and process EOM journals
- Ensure compliance with audits, tax, and industry regulations
- Maintain accurate financial data and cost tracking for multiple projects
- Support project teams with financial reporting and budget control
- Ensure compliance with Project Trust and Retention Account regulations
- Oversee AP/AR functions, including Progress Claims and invoice processing
- Resolve supplier payment issues and manage stakeholder cash flow
- Support bank reconciliations, credit card transactions, and expense reimbursements
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with awards, superannuation and tax
- Address payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
The Candidate
- Minimum 5+ years in finance/accounting, preferably in commercial construction
- Proven experience leading and managing finance teams, with a focus on construction finance
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CA qualification preferred
- Experience with Cheops or similar construction accounting software
- Ability to provide financial insights that support construction business growth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with internal teams, project managers, and external stakeholders
- High level of accuracy in financial reporting and compliance
