About the role

This is an exciting ongoing opportunity for a motivated and proactive Insurance Officer to join the Infrastructure & Energy Practice to support the efficient delivery of VMIA products, renewal programs and client service solutions to meet the complex insurance needs of our clients.

Reporting to the Major Projects Lead, you'll be responsible for applying your sound knowledge of VMIA products and services to provide considered insurance advice, insurance solutions and provide administrative support.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop specialised knowledge across in construction insurance and general insurance for infrastructure and energy clients including policy advice, underwriting and reinsurance activities and renewal management whilst working within prescribed delegations.
  • Support clients and various internal teams with insurance questionnaires including validation process to identify omissions and irregularities to ensure insurance coverage.
  • Support the premium setting process by reviewing underwriting information and making risk-based decisions using data and claims experience.
  • Contribute to the management and administration of the full policy lifecycle working with stakeholders including finance, claims and reinsurers via our reinsurance broker.
  • Monitor, manage and support the Infrastructure and Energy Practice's actions across VMIA's digital platforms which includes policy, finance and file management platforms to support audit requirements, to support and contribute to benchmarking, claims reporting, analysis and administration.
  • Monitor and manage the general insurance queries by reviewing, referring, and responding to insurance queries from internal and external stakeholders.

Who you work with

  • VMIA clients - you provide a professional standard of service and support to VMIA clients through timely advice and response to all queries as well as policy coverage and endorsements.
  • Infrastructure and Energy Practice colleagues and other VMIA colleagues - you work collaboratively and professionally to provide VMIA clients insurance solutions and to support the full policy lifecycle.
  • Claims Team - you work collaboratively and share information with claims colleagues to ensure construction claims are settled in a fair and reasonable manner.
  • Reinsurers and reinsurance broker - you work with and share information to support the full policy lifecycle including supporting reinsurance agreements.

What we are looking for

  • You have a good understanding of construction and/or general insurance products. Reinsurance and/or experience in construction insurance, and/or with infrastructure or energy clients is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • You hold a professional service approach, with demonstrated time management, commercial acumen and skills in data and business analysis.
  • An enthusiastic team player with strong organisational skills and attention to detail with an ability to prioritise.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with SharePoint, Teams and Microsoft suite of products - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • You hold or are working towards tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. Insurance professional qualifications is highly desirable.
  • Membership with ANZIIF, equivalent body, or a willingness to pursue insurance qualification's part time is desirable
  • You are governed by the fit and proper person as per APRA guidelines, i.e. not listed on the disqualified persons register (Insurance ACT section 25(A) 1) and you are not convicted of a criminal offence or bankrupt.

Salary Information

At VMIA, we offer competitive salaries based on the role's classification and your skills and experience. Typically, new employees start at the minimum of the salary range, however, consideration may be given to starting above the minimum of the band should you demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role or possess unique and desirable skills and capabilities required to perform the role.
