This Estimator position is suited to someone experienced across residential or Multi-unit construction. The focus is on delivering accurate cost planning, tendering, and project feasibility assessments for a builder operating in South-East Queensland.

The role involves working closely with project managers, design consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are both commercially viable and delivered to high standards.

Core Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Planning

Prepare detailed BOQs and pricing for residential homes, townhouses, duplexes, and small-to-medium commercial and civil projects.

Accurately cost preliminaries, subcontractor trades, and site-specific risks.

Tender Submissions

Lead pricing and compilation of tenders and proposals for D&C and construction-only opportunities.

Collaborate with design managers and planning consultants on feasibility.

Site & Risk Assessments

Conduct site visits and desktop studies to review access, slope, flood/fire overlays, and local authority requirements.

Flag early risks such as asbestos, services relocation, or complex excavation.

Stakeholder Coordination

Liaise with subcontractors, clients, suppliers, and internal teams to gather quotes, scopes, and program details.

Participate in value engineering workshops and design development conversations.

Budget Tracking & Reporting

Maintain and update pricing databases.

Assist in preparing post-tender reviews and budget comparisons for awarded projects.

Ideal Candidate

Technical Skills:

Strong Excel skills and familiarity with estimating software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Cubit).

Ability to interpret plans, engineering drawings, and council overlays.

Knowledge:

Sound understanding of building codes, DA/BA processes, and site development constraints.

Personal Attributes:

Meticulous attention to detail.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Team-oriented but able to work independently.
