Position Summary:
Permanent Full-Time
Flexible working hours
The position reports to the Managing Director.
We welcome and encourage applications from all sexes, genders, races, and backgrounds. Women are encouraged to apply.
ABOUT UNIQUIP
Established in 1957, Uniquip Engineering is a company that designs and supplies bespoke static process equipment for landfill gas, biogas, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, industrial, future fuels, green hydrogen, and for decarbonisation.
We are currently executing exciting projects in the landfill gas, biogas, thermal energy storage and green hydrogen space. We see the low-carbon fuels field as a significant area of growth for our company and are looking for additional team members to join us on our journey.
We are very well known in the market and have recently expanded our portfolio, which now includes a plethora of complementary products, including membranes for biogas, hydrogen and H2S removal adsorbents. We represent major global brands and have our own in-house technology. We have an installed base with just about every major operator in Australia and New Zealand. The company has two offices, Cardiff and Chatswood NSW. We fabricate the majority of our equipment at a facility that is co-located with our Cardiff office.
JOB PURPOSE
Due to the company securing several new projects and new product lines, the company requires an experienced person(s) to contribute to the successful delivery of these projects. The role involves managing the various mechanical and engineering aspects of project execution. Some of these are small mechanical equipment, such as pressure vessels, columns, membranes, pumps, and heat exchangers, and also more complex packaged equipment. Our packaged equipment typically comprises fuel gas conditioning skids and hot oil skids, membrane skids, and bespoke process skids, all of which would normally have pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, instruments, and valves. It is a very technically involved role that also requires significant project management skills. The challenge in the role comes with the concurrent management of engineering and the overall project objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be the mechanical lead on projects and also manage packages within the project. You may also be given your own projects to run.
The expected workload will be multiple smaller projects simultaneously, or one large project, depending on our loading at the time. Contract values for smaller projects are in the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and values for larger projects can be several million dollars.
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
The role is ideal for a person with a strong oil and gas background who is looking to have greater exposure to low-carbon or carbon-free fuels, or a candidate with an existing background in low-carbon fuels.
The work that we perform requires a great deal of problem-solving and lateral thinking. The selection process will be heavily weighted toward problem-solving. If this is your area of strength, we strongly encourage you to apply.
We are very much focused on finding a person who will fit well with our team and culture and drive the successful execution of our projects for many years. Therefore, we are open to applicants of different experience levels. Once we have found the right candidate, we will tailor the role to you. A senior candidate will be expected to work on major projects from the outset, and a less experienced candidate will be supported while managing smaller projects or smaller parts of larger projects, with the goal of being a discipline lead for larger projects in years to come.
The progression path from this role will be either towards project management or further specialising in their engineering discipline.
Essential Criteria:
Experience in the execution of projects for the refining, petrochemical; and/or oil and gas industries (we see these as critical skills for future fuels). The ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure if required.
Sound understanding of the documentation, quality, and fabrication processes for O&G equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail
Time management and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to communicate with colleagues, clients, and contractors using MS Teams extensively. This can be learned on the job if required.
We are a small business, and the successful applicant must be flexible in performing a variety of tasks.
A sound engineering background and knowledge of basic engineering principles with regard to design and fabrication of equipment
Desirable Criteria:
Previous knowledge of heat transfer, mass transfer, and/or combustion equipment.
Qualifications in engineering and/or project management.
Experience with AutoCAD or Inventor software is beneficial.
