The Role
Operating from within the Strategic Policy and Partnerships Business Unit, you will be involved in undertaking research, analysis and providing policy advice and guidance on complex issues facing Queensland's communities, including in relation to volunteering and/or the urban water sector. You will use your demonstrated knowledge of policy development, analysis and evaluation, ensuring evidence-based policy, data and analytics to help develop policy and influence legislative frameworks to support changes and challenges in the operating environment for the water and volunteering sectors in Queensland.
Key Accountabilities
• Undertake research and analysis of relevant policy and associated issues to inform best practice stewardship of the state's finite resources and/or volunteer sector.
• Prepare timely, and authoritative advice on a range of strategic policy and regulatory issues and identify mechanisms for improvement to optimise sustainable outcomes.
• Contribute to the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence.
• Support the implementation of communication strategies by preparing communication aids including information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and other material as required.
• Support the implementation of service provider performance frameworks (e.g. National Performance Reporting, Key Performance Indicator Frameworks) across the department, in consultation with stakeholders and collaborators, to promote data driven improvements.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on government commitments.
• Represent the department at meetings, committees and interdepartmental working groups as required.
• Operate in a highly sensitive, commercially confidential environment having regard to probity, commercial and legal implications of any decisions made.
About You
There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is highly desirable.
You are a confident and articulate communicator, with exceptional written and verbal skills that enable you to deliver clear, structured and persuasive advice to diverse audiences. Your ability to research and analyse complex policy issues is underpinned by a strong focus on data and evidence, allowing you to develop highquality, timely recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes.
